Boiler installation, replacement, servicing and repair for domestic heating systems.

Boilers and central heating

Most UK homes are still heated by a boiler, and most heating work is boiler work.

Annual servicing to keep a boiler running safely and as efficiently as it can.

New Boiler Cost

What actually drives the price of a new boiler, and why quotes differ so much.

A different technology with different requirements — and the one grant support is aimed at.

Air Source Heat Pumps

Air-to-water heat pumps: how they work with radiators and hot water, and what a home needs.

Current grant values in England and Wales, and what each one covers.

Heating advice, before you commit to anything

A fair amount of what we do is helping people work out which job they actually need.

Heating decisions are made infrequently, under time pressure, and usually with only one person's opinion in the room. That is a poor combination, and it is why so many households end up with a system that does not suit them.

The most common versions of this are worth naming:

  • a boiler quoted for replacement when the real problem is a sludged system that needs cleaning;
  • a combi fitted in a house with two bathrooms, where a cylinder would have served better;
  • a heat pump ruled out on a myth — usually "you need underfloor heating" or "your house must be perfectly insulated first";
  • an off-grid property replacing an oil boiler by default, without ever comparing the alternative or checking whether a higher grant value would apply.

Our guides are written to help with exactly these decisions, and they are written to be useful in both directions — including when the answer is that a boiler is the sensible choice.

Grant support

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme applies to England and Wales and can reduce the upfront cost of an eligible heat pump installation.

It is not a boiler grant

The scheme funds heat pumps, and biomass boilers in limited circumstances. There is no grant under it towards a conventional replacement gas boiler. If you have been told otherwise, our guide explains why the name causes that confusion.

Where we work

We would rather tell you this straight than publish a coverage map we cannot stand behind.

We are not publishing a list of towns and postcodes on this site yet. Plenty of heating sites do, and a good number of those lists are aspirational rather than accurate — which wastes your time when you get in touch.

Tell us where the property is when you contact us and we will tell you plainly whether we can help. Guidance on the Boiler Upgrade Scheme applies throughout England and Wales regardless.

Tell us what you need

A few details about the property and what is happening with the heating, and we will come back to you.
